Birdie Birthday Part 1: Trash the Dress // Children’s Photographer
First birthdays are a huge milestone for all kids, and little Mia got to celebrate hers in style. Her mom is my friend Angie, who, I’ve learned, really knows how to throw a party. The details of this bird-themed party were amazing and deserving of their own blog post, which will be coming soon.
In the meantime I’m going to share the highlight of the party: the birthday cake. Angie had the great idea of getting a bright pink birthday cake that was sure to leave a mark on any pretty party dress that Mia wore. The idea was to have her attack the cake and see what sort of hilarity ensues. Well, it turned out that Miss Mia is a dainty girl that wasn’t terribly interested. She’s still adorable though.
Before the cake was brought in we were able to get some shots with her big brother and cousin. My favorite part of being a photographer is being able to capture these special family moments.
Enjoy!

First birthday fun! // Children’s Photographer
Spring has arrived, winter hiatus is over. After a nice break, Lulabella Photography is in full swing this spring. Today I spent some time at a first birthday party, capturing all the messy cake fun. Stay tuned for photos from that session. In the meantime, I’m sharing another adorable 1-year old session.
I can’t tell you how much I love this family! Sweet S turned one in March. His parents are great friends of mine and it’s been so much fun to see how much their baby boy has grown this year. He LOVED the balloons I brought him and he gets really excited when you clap and cheer for him.
Enjoy!

Fun at the Museum // Children’s Photographer
The holidays are in full swing, despite the lack of snow here in the Twin Cities. I’m looking out the window at the lake and there isn’t even ice yet! I love this time of year though. This evening I’ll be celebrating with family friends at my parents’ annual holiday party. In celebration of family, I wanted to share this fun session with you.
This is just the sweetest family. E is the most expressive little girl. She has a flair for the dramatic – I can see E being an actress someday. Her big brother L is a bit more reserved, but as sweet as can be. Together, they are a brother and sister who have lots of fun.
We had this session at the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, check it out. There’s a lot of great history captured there. I’ve used this location a few times since winter arrived, and I’m sure I’ll be using it a lot more. It’s a beautiful location.
Enjoy the season!

First Snow! // Children’s Photographer
I try very hard to embrace the change of seasons, especially after living in Southern California where there really are no seasons. Fall quickly turned to winter last Saturday, right in the middle of this session. We tried to brave the cold, but eventually had to take it inside. The kids were good sports about it, and even managed to grab a few final pics outside while the snow was falling.
I have to say I love this family! Nothing like spending a fun, but chilly morning with good friends.
Hope you’re all cozy warm this Thanksgiving weekend!

Golden Saturday // Family Photographer
With snow in the forecast, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the amazing fall we had. Each weekend was spectacular in its own way. I was very lucky.
This particular Saturday in late October was no exception. I was able to spend the day with two of my favorite friends and their kids. In a past life I lived in sunny San Diego, and the three of us (and two dogs and a cat) were roommates. My California family. I’m so happy that they are back in Minnesota. It’s been fun watching their two little one as they grow up. D is turning 5 soon and E is a very energetic 2-year old.
I’m sure this weekend we’ll be wishing we were back in Southern California. Happy Winter everyone!

Sweet E // Family Photographer
This little one is such a sweetheart. And one smart cookie! She loves books and coloring. Maybe an artist in the making? I spent a brisk Sunday morning with this family and E showed me just how much she enjoys reading – and her mom’s iPhone! Anything for a smile, right? It was fun to see how much she’s grown over the last year and I thank her parents for inviting me into their home again!

Where it all began // Family Photographer
This family will always hold a special place in my heart. They were one of my very first clients last year, when K was just 6 months old. It’s fitting that we had their session earlier this month at the park where they got married. It was another beautiful fall day, and it was so much fun to see how much K has grown and learned since I saw her last. Creating a whole new set of memories for this family. Such a wonderful job I have.

Superheroes // Family Photographer
Who doesn’t love a superhero? They are strong, brave and can leap giant buildings in a single bound. There is so much more to love with these little superheroes. They both have great energy and are the sweetest boys. Imagine be able to run through fields without a care in the world. Have no fear that these two guys will be taking on the world someday!
All superheroes have great parents. This is such a beautiful, loving family. Meeting families like this is why I love doing what I do.

Brothers and a Sister // Family Photographer
Siblings are an incredible thing. Growing up they can be your best of friends or your worst of enemies. Sometimes all in the same 15 minutes. Being the only girl with two brothers, I should know. Which is what made meeting the K family so fun. Two brothers and a baby sister. They were so sweet with each other. Big brothers N and C took such great care of H. Don’t get me wrong, there was a good amount of ribbing, but boys will be boys, right? Overall, they showed a genuine warmth for each other and it really shows in these photos.
Not only that, H is an adorable little girly girl, and judging by the boys’ smiles the tooth fairy has been visiting their house quite a bit lately. How could you not love them?
Enjoy!

Thank Heaven // Family Photographer
As the song goes, thank heaven for little girls. And on this beautiful fall afternoon, the heavens opened up. And rained. After taking refuge on the porch of the Burwell House, we were able to capture some great photos and beautiful fall colors with the W family. Look out for S and L, these adorable sisters are future fashionistas. I had a lot of fun hanging out with this family and I hope they did too – rain, skinned knees and all!
True story, as I pulled out of the park’s parking lot, it started raining again. My view on the drive home was of the most perfect rainbow. The little things can add up to so much!
